Ever wondered what use the glass bottles we religiously take down to the local bottle bank might be destined for?

Millcell's patented process converts the glass into a very lightweight foamed material - density approximately 150kg/cubic metre - which makes it ideal as a loadbearing and highly thermally efficient aggregate for many applications in the construction and landscaping industries.

Cardiff Castle clock tower

Congratulations are in order to the entire team responsible for winning the prestigious RICS Wales 2007 Award in the Building Conservation category.

Lime Firms has been supplying the main contractor, Phil Turton Building and Consulting Services Ltd with specialist advice and mortar design and provision for re-pointing work at the Castle.

Careful mortar mix design, based on St Astier natural hydraulic lime, has helped lead to a reduction in damp penetration through the walls of the clock tower by 33%. ⁽¹⁾
